Love and happiness that comes day to day is precious. When it lasts for that long, it is priceless. I hope that you all rejoice in his memory, and celebrate knowing George.

Blessings, love and light to you and your father, my dear friend. Thank you for sharing this moment and this life with me.

wish i could tell you yes but it seems pretty dark right now - i am trying to get my head around everything and as a good friend told me - Buck up Camper ( which i use to tell people when i kicked their ass ( to help them ))

my health is okay at the moment - and the great thing is - i have my boyhood good looks back due to weight loss

60 years of friendship so makes me cry - how is your dad dealing with it ??

my best friend in life died after 15 years of friendship and I think about him everyday ( that was back in the early 90's )

well dad is doing better than i thought but at friday approaches will see how it's going to be. he drove george to a coffee shop every fri. 3 other guys that have been friends not as close or long as dad and george met them there. then after lunch 2 of the guys would go with them back to george's to play cards. my dad is an only child and george really was a brother to him. he fronted the money for my wedding, 33 years ago. when he saw how poor my parents were he started a mini storage for them. i know as the days roll on it will get harder for a while. eric (my hubby and daughter) and liz plan to take dad to some of the padres games. he loves sports but mom and dad are on a very tight budget. so we'll see

as i get older - i have seen my generation die and then .. as i look - i know we are ships passing in the night ..

have you every seen two old ww2 vets meet - even if they don't know each other - they do know each other

i feel so sorry for your dad - it's going to hurt ( it hurts me now to think about it ) but

i think ( and would say ) is George and your dad will be buds in heaven

how else to deal with death

how else to deal with life

...........

i was 70 for the first time i passed away
lost my leg in ww1 ( the first world war to end all wars )
i lost my wife ( died of cancer ) in 1920
i lived alone with a cat named jesus
i became a baker and can still smell fresh bread in a hot oven

on the streets of NY - i would see
ghost of those that i knew and lost

.........

i had a black friend named Hiram
we had known each other for a very long time
( during a time that black men were still known as niggers )
to this day I hate that term

.....

we remained friends and on occasion we would share hot tea and memories

.........

he died and i was still old and now alone

............

i died alone

.............
