Sorry I misspelt the word, it's 'noir' not 'noire'.
(Not completely sure, maybe 'noire' is the Canadian spelling...)

If you just say noir, many will take reference to the old black and white movies before colour existed or was common.

'Noir' means black. 'Noir photography' refers to black and white (or grayscale) generally.
